  • We are sending our heartfelt condolences from the UK.

There are so many great memories to chose from and Shorty was always the centre of the party - whether at a nightclub in Manchester, going out for a delicious meal, dancing until dawn at their house, or spending the weekend in Berlin together - we will treasure these forever.

    Rest In Peace Shorty xxx

  • How lucky we are to have known you, Shorty. To know you is to love you; we will always remember your cheeky smile followed by you saying something suitably outrageous. My thoughts are with Sam and your family today, much love to you all x

  • My love and thoughts are with you.  I'm glad you were with someone that enriched your life, and even though I mostly watched from afar, I know that you had a wonderful relationship filled with love and joy.  You have many memories to cherish and Shorty will always be in your heart.

  • Today’s service was a beautiful reflection of who Andy was, warm, funny and truly one of a kind. Hearing everyone’s stories has brought back so many fond memories, the midnight training sessions, Arnold, his spontaneity that truly made the best stories and the way he always found joy at all times. He had gift of lifting the mood and making everyone around him smile. He’ll be deeply missed by myself and everyone who was lucky enough to know him. My thoughts are with Sam and the family

See you at the afterparty mate x

  • Ah Shorty, you really did light up a room. I was thinking of that time we came to visit you at the RBH. You wanted to show us the catheter. Cheeky man. Guess where it is? Want to see? Sending my love to Sam and your family. Love always Jan

  • My sincere condolences to Sam and family today.  I have such wonderful memories of working with Shorty and Sam at BCC.  Always a smile, a laugh, but still a professional getting the job done.  Blessings to you Sam, and the family during this time.  Gary xx

  • My condolences to Sam and family as they remember Shorty and celebrate his life today.  I, along with many of the "guys" from the days when "Shorty" was our team leader for the desktop team at B.C.C. ( River City Technology ) have many fond memories of his larger than life enthusiasm and energy. He was firm and fair with everyone and always supported everyone in our team 110%.  20+ yrs ago was when we all worked along side each other and today we are all spread across this land, from as far away as Perth W.A. to Nambucca & Tweed Heads in N.S.W. and many here in Brisbane still, we all remember him today and forever.

We will always remember those good ol' days as well as remembering the positive long lasting influence and impression that "Shorty" imparted onto each and every one us who had the good fortune to be along with him on that ride.....  Much love and prayers to all.

  • My heartfelt condolences to Sam on Shorty's passing, and to everyone else who knew and loved him. You both fought so hard after his accident and subsequent health issues but he was always charming, witty and had a cheeky twinkle in his eye. I'll never forget the year we all went to the Indy 500 together, what a massive, wild time that was. Shorty I hope you can rest easy now, knowing how loved and supported you were. Wishing I could be there in person to say farewell, but sending you all my love from Melbourne today. RIP Shorty, will love and miss you always. xxx

  • Unfortunately I never had the privilege of meeting Shorty when he was well.  I met Sam when my husband was a patient in Salford Royal Hospital at the same time as Shorty,  both having sustained serious injuries as a result of falls.
Sam became a friend and we spent time together  having  meals, visiting  the theatre and supporting each other at this difficult time in our lives.
I was particularly distressed at Sam and Shorty's situation given their age , with so much to live for ,
we after all are in our 70's.
I missed Sam when she returned to Australia, but was delighted that she would have the support of her many friends and her family.
Sam was utterly devoted to  Shorty and it was obvious  that they had enjoyed a wonderful life together, which has  been tragically cut short.
Sam is a wonderful woman and I hope as she goes forward she will enjoy a happy and fulfilling life albeit without her lovely man.
    All my love always
    Sue xxxxx

  • Dear Sam,
How gutted we both were to get news of Shorty's early demise. My experience of you both was mainly limited to waves of the hand across the ward at visiting times when I was also treated to his lovely smiles. I know that you and Sue had some good times together and were a great support to each other. She will always remember you and those times.
We hope that Shorty gets the send off he would both want and deserves.
Love and best wishes for the future to you and your family and friends.

  • Shorty was a force of nature - so full of energy and enthusiasm - it's hard to believe he's gone.   I feel privileged to have known him for  23 or so years, since he and Sam met at Brisbane City Council - and to see such a beautiful love between them blossom and flourish. Shorty was one of the good ones as they say - generous in spirit and being - nothing was too much for his loved ones - and he and Sam even graciously let me stay with them for quite a few months when I was in the UK some years back.  I'll never forget how much fun we had together at Glastonbury :D. If only we could do it again!!  RIP Shorty - I'm so happy to have known you!!  And sincere condolences to Sam and the entire Short family.  I'm so sorry for your loss.  I so wish I could be there in person, but am watching the live stream and thinking of you all.  Love Vanessa xx
