- I have so many memories from my time at Roadtek and so many of them involved Bucky. Meetings where he was resting his eyes, listening to him fight with his computer on the daily, singing songs I'd never heard with such passion....the list goes on.Thank you Bucky for making my 15 years working with you so enjoyable...you will be missed but never forgotten. Rest easy my friend 🧡

- Heartfelt condolences to Jenny and family. Such a big loss. It was a privilege to have known Bucky, a dedicated and much-loved member of the Main Roads family, and the social club, in particular, in which he played a major part. A hard-working, ever-reliable workmate, a loyal friend and dedicated family man. I will miss him, as will many. Rest in peace, now...

So sad to hear of your passing, Greg ‘Bucky’. I have many great memories of working with you at the Toowoomba Depot, including the times we volunteered to run the social club bar and bring staff together. Plus, all the wonderful BBQs you helped arrange, feeding so many of us in the early hours of the morning and always with a smile. You will be greatly missed. Heartfelt condolences to your loved ones.

In Remembrance of a True Friend — Bucky (Greg) Rodgers
A true mate, a loyal friend, and a devoted father and grandfather. Bucky was the kind of bloke whose presence made every room, every job, and every gathering just that little bit better. He carried a quiet strength, a steady calm, and a warmth that made people feel grounded simply by having him nearby.
If you needed a hand, Bucky was already there. Lending a hand wasn’t something he did — it was part of who he was. No fuss, no fanfare, just that dependable ethos he lived by every single day. If something needed doing, he stepped forward without hesitation, embodying the kind of character that leaves a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.
This year’s 25 Year Club will be especially difficult without Bucky’s cordial but firm guidance. He shaped so much of what the Social Club stands for, and his influence will echo through every conversation, every shared memory, and every story told about what it means to be part of Main Roads, RTCS and RoadTek. His legacy isn’t just in what he contributed, but in how he made people feel valued, supported, and part of something bigger.
Bucky will be fondly remembered — not only for what he did, but for the way he lived, the way he cared, and the way he showed up for others time and time again.
My thoughts and prayers go out to Jenny and the family during this incredibly difficult time. As soon as I know more about arrangements, I will pass them on.
May Bucky rest peacefully, and may his spirit continue to guide those who knew and loved him.

- It was such sad news hearing of the passing of Bucky or as i called him "The Buckster", he was such a calm and confident co-worker over the years I worked with him in Toowoomba. Certainly a wealth of experience that will be sadly missed but I am sure at this year's TMR 25 year club get together we will all be toasting Bucky and waiting for him to pull the ring tab on another can for us to enjoy. Life and retirement is way to short at times, RIP Buckster and certainly be celebrating your great life on the 3rd November (Melbourne Cup Day) with fellow TMR Co-workers and friends 🍻Mark Collins.

- Still trying to get my head around this - the passing of Bucky is a reminder that life is all too short when illness takes over and we go to the world beyond. There is only one Buck Rodgers - if you can picture him as an illustrious pole dancer on one of his birthdays then you realise how true this statement is. Bucky was always present, always obliging, RoadTek Depot invested - covering many a late night call out, showing the dedication that he had for this depot. Bucky had many mates in this Department, from Brisbane to Roma we knew who Bucky was. His smile, his gentlemanly nature, his love of family, his love for his workmates, these are what we remember and will miss.Bucky came from the world of ledgers (just loved his style of writing and numbers, like we were taught many moons back), never really liked the changes / updates to current IT practices, penciling for the bookmakers in horse racing, football - Australian and American (he loved the football - Superbowl, world series baseball). So many things that made this fellow into one.I have been so lucky to have been on this Depot while Bucky was present. What he didn't know about this Depot, didn't do for this Depot has been hard to replace and most likely there will never be a person who had as much dedication as this fellow called Bucky.I'm going to remember Bucky for many years to come especially when I sit in my chair and reminisce - I will smile remembering the old fella. Memories will hold his family together, will help get them through this tough time. There is no words that help ease the sadness other than to keep reminding ourselves how lucky we were to have known him. Hugs and love to all. M

It is with great sadness that I write this tribute to my dear friend and colleague, Greg Rodgers.
Greg was more than just a work colleague; he was a true friend whose kindness, friendship, and support touched the lives of so many people. Greg was my mentor when I started at RoadTek in 2007 19 years ago. I had the privilege of working alongside Greg and getting to know him not only as a dedicated professional but also as a genuinely caring and compassionate person.
Greg's positive attitude, sense of humour, and willingness to help others made him a valued member of our workplace and a cherished friend. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together and make everyone feel welcome and supported. His friendship enriched my life, and I will always be grateful for the many conversations, laughs, and memories we shared.
The loss of Greg leaves a void that words cannot adequately express. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well lived and remember the many ways he made a difference in the lives of those around him.
On behalf of myself and all who had the honour of knowing Greg, I extend my deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared and strength in the knowledge that Greg was deeply respected, admired, and loved by so many.
Greg will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
With heartfelt condolences,
May Pamogas

Bucky has been a part of the TMR family for a very long time. Whether he was serving drinks or enjoying a laugh with his mates, he alway brought people together. The social club just won't be the same without him, but we'll all definitely be raising a glass or two in his honour and remembering him as a truly special friend and person. Thanks to his tireless dedication, he became the face of the social club. The social club rooms will feel a little emptier without him but I'm sure he'll be there in spirit. Our dear friend will be remembered fondly.❤ 9

Bucky was a valued member of the TMR family for many years and, for as long as many of us can remember, was a familiar and respected presence across the organisation. He truly lived and breathed TMR, concluding his working career with us as a Project Costing Officer with RoadTek DSW.
Bucky was a passionate advocate for the TMR Toowoomba Social Club, the 25 Year Club, and the preservation of our organisation’s history and traditions. His commitment, knowledge, and enthusiasm made a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. He was our long-term caretaker of the 427 Greenwattle Street Depot, being the one that got the call from security if anything untoward was identified. And back when there of a Social Club, you would find him serving behind the bar or cooking up a storm on the BBQ.
On behalf of RoadTek DSW, I extend our sincere condolences to Bucky’s family, friends, and former colleagues during this difficult time.
He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
